Plans, usage & invoices

Zubby bills monthly, or annually via Stripe (two months free — pay for 10 months, get 12). The base plan covers a tier of AI conversations; if you reach the cap you can buy a conversation pack or upgrade — there is no surprise overage billing. This page explains exactly what counts as a billable conversation, where to find your usage, and how to change plans.

What counts as a billable conversation

A billable conversation is a session where:

  • A shopper sent at least one message; and
  • The AI generated at least one reply (not just the canned welcome).

The following don’t count:

  • Widget impressions where the shopper never typed.
  • Welcome-only sessions with no follow-up.
  • Conversations handled entirely by a human teammate.
  • Internal preview / playground sessions.
  • Outbound recovery email sends (those have a separate meter).

Why this matters

A lot of platforms count every widget impression as a conversation, which inflates pricing and rewards being annoying. We meter only the sessions where the AI actually did work.

Usage in the dashboard

Open Settings → Billing → Usage. You see:

  • A live counter for the current cycle — conversations consumed, remaining, projected end of cycle.
  • A breakdown by store (multi-store workspaces).
  • A breakdown by channel (widget, email reply, WhatsApp, etc.).
  • A daily chart of the last 30 days.

Cost caps

Worried about a bad week? Set a hard cost cap under Settings → Billing → Cost cap. When you hit the cap, Zubby pauses non-essential AI replies and notifies you. Cart recovery and human-handoff escalations keep running so revenue isn’t blocked.

Invoicing

Invoices are issued on the first of the month for the prior cycle. Payment methods: credit card via Stripe, or your Shopify bill for stores subscribed through the Shopify App Store (monthly only); invoice + wire is available on Enterprise. Receipts download as PDF directly from the dashboard.

VAT and GST: if your company is in the EU, UK, or AU, add your VAT/ GST ID under Billing → Tax. We zero-rate accordingly.

Currency

Plans are listed in USD. EU and UK customers can opt to be billed in EUR or GBP at the conversion rate on the first day of each cycle. Change currency from Billing → Currency.

Trial

Every new workspace starts on a 14-day free trial of Growth. A card is required to start the trial, but you aren’t charged until day 15 and can cancel any time before then from the billing tab.

Changing plan

Upgrade: takes effect immediately. We prorate the difference. Downgrade: takes effect at the end of the current cycle so you keep the higher allowance you’ve already paid for.

Pausing a workspace

Going on hiatus? Pause from Billing → Pause workspace. Billing stops, the widget hides, and recovery journeys halt. Conversations remain in storage for 90 days; re-activate any time to resume.

Cancellation

Cancel from the same screen. We delete personally-identifiable data within 30 days; aggregated, anonymized analytics are retained for 12 months for model improvement. Full schedule under Security & privacy.

Disputes & refunds

If you spot a billing mistake, email support@zubbyai.com with the invoice number. We refund overcounts within five business days, no fuss.
