Feature · Cart rescue

Save the sale before the tab closes.

Zubby notices when a shopper with a full cart starts to hesitate, opens the conversation with a helpful answer or an approved offer, and follows up later if the cart is still left behind.

What it does

Cart rescue works while the shopper is still on your store. Instead of waiting for an abandoned-cart email, it addresses the question holding up the purchase: shipping cost, delivery time, sizing, returns or price.

If the shopper leaves anyway, the cart can move into your recovery emails and journeys, so the follow-up continues the same conversation.

Illustrative store example. A test shopper pauses with boots in the cart. An allowed prompt offers help with sizing, without inventing a discount. After checkout, check that follow-up is suppressed. If an offer is allowed, inspect the actual checkout total and cost coverage instead of assuming an on-screen percentage proves the rule worked.

Capabilities

What you get

Hesitation triggers

Exit intent, idle time, repeat visits and cart value can trigger an in-session prompt, with frequency caps you control.

Approved offers only

The agent looks up your discount and free-shipping rules for the cart and only offers what matches. The margin guard checks known product costs. When costs are missing, an offer cap limits the discount but cannot guarantee profitability; add costs or block offers for those products.

Answers that remove doubt

Product details, stock checks, shipping estimates and policy answers address the real objection, with handoff to your team when needed.

Follow-up after the visit

Abandoned carts from known shoppers flow into recovery emails and journeys, and every touch is tracked in your dashboard.

How to get started

  1. Set your triggers

Choose the signals, minimum cart value and frequency, and decide which offers are allowed.

  2. Preview the prompts

Check the opener, the offer wording and the checkout total on a test cart.

  3. Go live and compare

Watch rescues, offers used and associated orders. The assistant holdout currently needs Shopify cart-token linking and does not withhold standalone offers or recovery messages; use a suitable control for the specific intervention.

Good to know

  • Offers are limited to the rules you approve; the agent cannot create its own discount.
  • Follow-up messages go only to shoppers who can be contacted and have agreed to it.
  • Results depend on your traffic, offers and products, so compare against your own baseline.

Frequently asked questions

When does cart rescue appear?

When a shopper with items in the cart shows signs of leaving or hesitating, such as exit intent, long idle time or repeated visits to the same product. You set the triggers, thresholds and how often it can appear.

Can the agent offer a discount?

Only one you have approved. The agent checks your offer rules for the cart and presents a matching code or free-shipping offer. The margin guard checks known product costs. When costs are missing, an offer cap limits the discount but cannot guarantee profitability; add costs or block offers for those products.

What if the shopper still leaves?

If the shopper is known and has agreed to hear from you, the abandoned cart can enter a recovery email or journey with the cart contents and your brand voice.

Which plan includes cart rescue?

Cart rescue and recovery emails are included in every plan. Multi-step journeys are included from Growth, and SMS or WhatsApp follow-ups need Pro.
